Lidija Strika is a visionary bassist, composer and bandleader who tailors her compositional work to the unique voices of this intriguing group. These distinguished musicians focus on a real band feel sound, embodying improvised music by blending sounds from the American jazz tradition with western classical music and other various elements from rock, new wave and soul, among others. Lidija uses acoustic jazz quartet instrumentation and favors juxtaposing extremes in her compositions such as lyrically captivating melodies with darker sounding rhythm section elements or playing with dynamics and texture layering of the harmonic instruments and their effects. Besides these musical pillars bringing the music of LSQ to a recognizable sound, there is room for unfolding spontaneity and respect for the mysterious and unrationalized emotional aspect of art.Their debut album is being released this winter.
